For three entrepreneurs who were already building businesses side by side, Glo offered something they hadn’t quite found before: the chance to go bigger together.
People call Lindsey Crouch, Ashley Thompson and Daley Lightfoot “the triplets,” and the nickname makes more sense the longer you’re around them. Lindsey and Ashley are twins; Daley is their best friend, looks enough like them to pass as the third sister, and seems to share much of the same entrepreneurial and ambitious wiring.
All three were business owners before Glo, and their ventures had a habit of crossing paths. They helped with one another’s launches, hosted pop-ups, swapped ideas and jumped in when something needed to get done. Daley jokes that they have “the same brain,” which helps explain why decisions among the three tend to happen quickly.
They were already looking for another business opportunity when Glo caught their attention in a fairly unexpected way. One of the three had been following Glo CEO Onyi Odunukwe online because of his real estate and entrepreneurship content. When she saw him at a Glo grand opening, curiosity took over. She began looking into the company, found the franchise opportunity and booked a call, all at a time when Glo had barely begun promoting franchising publicly.
The more they learned, the more serious the conversation became. Daley, the resident numbers person, liked what she saw in the economics. The others connected with the concept just as quickly. This wasn’t three first-time entrepreneurs wondering if business ownership was right for them. They knew what it took to build something, and they saw enough in Glo to want to build this one together.
Learning Glo, Their Way
Experience helped, but it did not spare them the chaos of opening their first Glo. Suddenly there were new systems, inventory platforms and operating processes to learn on top of staffing, construction and everything else that comes with opening a brick-and-mortar business. Looking back, they laugh about some of those early questions: Where do we order this? Where do we log in? What exactly is SunLink?
What helped was having somewhere to get answers. Their staff was able to train inside existing Glo locations before the doors opened, giving them real experience with the business before serving their first customer. And when Lindsey, Ashley or Daley ran into something they did not know, they got comfortable going directly to the corporate team. They still do it. A question about inventory, technology or training gets sent to whoever handles it, and they say the response can come so quickly it feels as though they are the only franchisee asking for help.
The payoff really showed up with store number two. The construction and site-selection headaches did not magically disappear, but the actual Glo operation was no longer foreign territory. They knew the systems, knew what to expect and could spend less energy figuring out the basics. That experience is a big reason the idea of three, four or five locations now feels very different from the way it did before they had even opened one.
Today, they operate Glo studios in Burleson and Arlington, are working toward a third and already have other DFW markets in mind. Their longer-term ambition is to build toward roughly five locations in the region, with the possibility of going farther if the right opportunity comes along.
Why They Keep Betting on Glo
Their enthusiasm for expansion comes from more than simply getting better at opening stores. They believe strongly in what Glo offers customers.
The three knew the traditional tanning world well, which is part of why they see such a distinction in Glo. Instead of a customer coming in simply to tan, the model brings together sunbed tanning, spray tanning, red light therapy, skincare-focused services and wellness offerings under one roof.
They also like the simplicity of the membership model. Rather than building an experience around a long menu of add-ons, members can access a much broader mix of services, giving them more ways to use the studio and more opportunities to discover something they may not have originally walked in for.
For Lindsey, Ashley and Daley, that breadth is a meaningful part of Glo’s appeal. So is the fact that the concept keeps evolving. They have watched the brand continue exploring new equipment, higher-end services and improvements to the franchise system rather than standing still.
That is a good match for three owners who have never been especially good at standing still themselves.
Working Toward Owning the Clock
Ask the “triplets” why they want to keep growing, and the answer is bigger than adding another location to the map.
They have a phrase they use so often that they even had jewelry made around it: work around the clock so you can own the clock.
“Own the clock” is their shorthand for what they ultimately want entrepreneurship to give them. It means building enough control over their own lives to spend time with family, work out at 2:30 in the afternoon if they want to and decide for themselves how their time gets used, even if getting there requires plenty of long days now.
They are not pretending they have reached that point yet. All three remain deeply involved in the business, and they readily admit that growing Glo still means hard work, mistakes and problems that need solving.
But they are doing it the way they have built just about everything else: together.
Glo did not create the partnership between Lindsey, Ashley and Daley. They were entrepreneurs, best friends and collaborators long before that first franchise call. What Glo gave them was one business they believed was worth putting all three of their strengths behind.
With two locations open, another on the horizon and bigger plans already taking shape, the “triplets” are well on their way.
